Meet the Teacher

Conny Crappell holds the Diplom Musiklehrer degree in violin pedagogy and performance from the “Hochschule fuer Musik Augsburg” in Germany. During her performance career in Europe, she was principal violinist of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, "Die Zarge," and she performed with numerous chamber groups that toured parts of Europe and Southeast Asia. In the United States, Conny has performed with many symphony orchestras, including the Baton Rouge Symphony in Baton Rouge, LA, the Acadiana Symphony in Lafayette, LA, the Natchez Opera Festival in Natchez, MS, the Fort Smith Symphony, AK, and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, in Oklahoma City, OK.
Currently she performs with the Mid-Texas Symphony in New Braunfels, TX, and the Symphony of the Hills in Kerrville, TX. In addition to her experience in orchestral performance, Conny regularly performs with various ensembles, including classical chamber ensembles, mariachi groups, and popular bands. In 2007, she performed with Smoky Robinson at a concert in Norman, Oklahoma.
Continuing her pedagogical training, Conny studied the Suzuki mother-tongue approach at Suzuki institutes in New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Nashville, and Salt Lake City. She taught at the Lafayette Conservatory in Louisiana, and while in Oklahoma, she directed the Norman School for Strings, a Suzuki school offering lessons in violin, viola, and cello. In San Antonio, Conny teaches at Northwest Vista College and runs her personal studio, the Brilliant Strings Music School. Including her time spent in Europe, her teaching experience spans nearly twenty years.
